Dear Family and Friends of Holy Trinity,
I am pleased to announce that we are favorably considering a proposal to develop school and community gardens in conjunction with our new Lindisfarne Hall. An Amelia Park resident, Mr. Dan Groth, recently made a presentation to some of our members and explained how this might work (Dan and I have been talking for several months about this).
Basically, according to the proposal, we will identify an area on our parcel that will not be needed for buildings or related infrastructure and clear that area, to make room for the gardens. The children (with adult guidance) will be responsible for making decisions on what to plant, take care of the school gardens and decide what to do with the harvest (we expect some of it will be donated to the homeless). The Community Garden plots ("Victory Gardens") will be available to rent and cultivate by church members and their families and Amelia Park residents (only). We expect some walkways, meeting areas and outdoor classroom area will be built as part of this project.
We have received very positive comments following Dan's presentation on Sunday and welcome all comments, ideas and questions from all parishioners. While this project is a proposal in early development, nevertheless we think this is a very exciting concept that could be a tremendous benefit to the school, our church and the community. Dan will be looking for volunteers for a Steering Committee to work out the details and we hope that some of you will be interested. For more information or to volunteer, please call Dan Groth directly at 440-759-6097.
